Tribevest, founded in Columbus, announced that McClurkin, a Columbus native, has joined the firm as Chief Storyteller, serving as the brand’s face and leading its content strategy.
FREMONT, CA: With the well-known Harlem Globetrotters, an American exhibition basketball team sidelined for over 14-months due to the pandemic, star player Julian McClurkin has been hired by Tribevest, a rising corporation in the social fintech industry that enables friends and family to invest together. Tribevest, founded in Columbus, announced that McClurkin, a Columbus native, has joined the firm as Chief Storyteller, serving as the brand’s face and leading its content strategy.
“Julian brings an unmatched level of energy and enthusiasm on the basketball court and in his life,” said Travis Smith, CEO, Tribevest. “We hear incredible stories from our customers daily, telling us about their adventures of investing with their friends and family. Julian is the perfect person to unlock those stories and tell them to the world. We’re lucky to have him join the Tribevest team.”
McClurkin will interview customers and share their stories of “tribe-vesting,” the company’s term for investing with friends and family, as part of his position with Tribevest. Kevin Danni, a Tribevest customer who is part of an investor group made up of his relatives, was featured in McClurkin’s debut video. Danni’s organization also invested in a racehorse that earned a $400,000 award, in addition to properties and bitcoin. McClurkin examines Baker’s use of Tribevest to decentralize money in the black community in another biography of Harvard Business School alumni Tre Baker.
“Through my experiences touring the world with the Globetrotters, I met so many dynamic people and heard their stories,” said McClurkin. “I’m doing the same thing here at Tribevest. Their platform is a gamechanger for so many Americans looking to invest with people they know and trust. I’m honored to join the team.”
McClurkin is one of the Globetrotters’ most distinguished athletes, having won three Guinness World Records and establishing himself as one of the best trick shot artists in the world. While parasailing on the Atlantic Ocean and ziplining at the Mall of America, he has made some remarkable basketball shots. McClurkin has traveled to 27 nations with the Globetrotters in the last ten years. In April of 2020, McClurkin was released from the Globetrotters.
